Department of Surgery, Texas A&M University, Temple Over the past generation, there have been a number of significant advances in wound healing in general. Unfortunately, much of this has not translated into increased success in healing wounds on the sole of the foot. We believe that much of this therapeutic disconnect has to do with an inadequate merging of pressure off-loading technologies and active wound-healing technologies. This article discusses such a merger between removable cast walkers and topical negative pressure (also known as vacuum-assisted closure).
